The Crane Trust is a 501c(3) non-profit dedicated to protecting migratory bird habitat along the Big Bend Reach of the Platte River. Over the last decade, Crane Trust has worked to restore plains bison along the Central Platte River in South Central Nebraska. The bison program is focused on health monitoring, habitat restoration, and genetic diversity. Through the use of culling and retention programs, genetic testing, and a scientifically driven genetic model, Crane Trust produces calves and yearlings with exceptional genetic diversity. The Crane Trust intends to sell these calves to bolster genetic diversity in other breeding herd populations. Proceeds from this sale return to our bison program in the form of herd expansion, fence maintenance, research, and monitoring. Thank you for your interest in and support of the Crane Trust bison program.
