Potluck & Speaker Series: Piping Plovers and the Platte

Elsa Forsberg started as the new Wildlife Biologist at the Crane Trust in September 2025. In this role, she will work on data collection for the long term monitoring project and associated research. Elsa grew up in Nebraska and received her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in wildlife biology and natural resources. Much of Elsa’s work prior to the Crane Trust focused on Least Terns and Piping Plovers, two bird species of conservation concern in Nebraska that breed in the Platte River valley, including at the Crane Trust.
